In class, we have continued to read “Surviving the Applewhites” by Stephanie S. Tolan. I remember my first impression of the book being, that it’s boring, anticlimactic and there are to many characters to keep up with. From that first impression, my opinion hasn’t really changed. The story continues to drive, not only me, but pretty much everyone in my class into the state in between awake and asleep. I believe that when Tolan wrote this book, the idea was there, but she just added so many extra characters that the story is hard to follow. Not only that, but the story is sooooo BORING. I can’t think of one time while reading this far that something exciting has happened. Nothing has made my heart race or made me eager to pick up the book the next day. I’m not saying that everyone will hate this book, I’m just saying this book has an acquired taste.
